President Johnson Helps Serve Thanksgiving Dinner for Ohio State Community

Ohio State University President Kristina M. Johnson and her wife, Veronica Meinhard, joined a team of university volunteers to serve an early Thanksgiving dinner to students, faculty and staff Wednesday at the Ohio Union.

The annual Ohio State University Thanksgiving Dinner is a 32-year-old tradition that started with 25 graduates in the Hale Black Cultural Center. The celebration is one of the largest Thanksgiving dinners on a college campus.

About 1,000 members of the Ohio State community consume more than 650 pounds of turkey, 30 gallons of gravy, 432 pounds each of green beans and corn, 320 pounds of corn bread and 2,000 slices of pie. The annual celebration serves those who are unable to travel home for the holiday.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of International Affairs support the Thanksgiving Dinner at Ohio State.
