World-renowned talk show host Dr. Ray Guarendi filmed his program at Walsh University this week before a live studio audience of faculty, staff, students and community members. His show, “Living Right with Dr. Ray,” reaches an estimated 300 million viewers in 140 countries through ETWN, the Eternal Word Television Network, the world’s largest Catholic media network. Four episodes were filmed on Monday and Tuesday in the Barrette Business and Community Center this week with special guests Rev. Mitch Pacwa and Rev. Larry Richards.
The Rev. Mitch Pacwa, a Jesuit priest, senior fellow of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, host of “Open Line,” and president and found of Ignatius Productions spent the afternoon with Campus Ministry.
“The Catholic identity here at Walsh University is something that’s obvious and part of the campus culture,” said Rev. Mitch. “Catholicism helps people think more clearly, and it gives more freedom. One of the ironies to me is that there was more freedom of speech in a medieval university than there is at Harvard, Yale or Princeton today. They don’t allow free speech. Catholicism helps you think through the issues and not really shout down opposition.”
Rev. Larry Richards, a speaker, retreat master, author and host of "Reason for Hope" has been a priest since 1989 for the Diocese of Erie, Pennsylvania, and he currently serves as pastor of St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community in Erie.
“As humans our deepest need is to be loved, “ said Rev. Larry. “Being educated in a Catholic environment, students are not only taught that God’s love is eternal, they are also challenged to be the best version of themselves and to continually strive. That’s what sets a Catholic education apart.”
Dr. Ray Guarendi has been partnering with Walsh University to film his show for more than a decade. We are always delighted to have him.
