Alliance Leaders Brad and Sue Goris Honored at Mount Union

As part of its Alumni Weekend and Homecoming events, the University of Mount Union named its academic mall the Goris Academic Mall on Friday, October 7 in honor of Alliance residents Brad and Sue Goris. The Gorises were recognized for their decades of leadership, generosity, and involvement in the Mount Union community.

Sue has served as a member of the Mount Union Board of Trustees since 2014 and is currently the Chair of the Student Affairs Committee. The couple was awarded the McKinley Fellow Award from the University in 2004, the highest honor non-alumni can receive. They are members of every leadership giving society at Mount Union, including the 1846 Society, Heritage Society, Forever Mount Society and the Diamond Circle.

The Gorises created The Goris Family Scholarship for Theatrical Performing Arts and the Goris Family Scholarship for Choral Performing Arts. They have also generously supported the Dick Merriman and Margot Kelman President’s Rescue Fund and Student Emergency Fund, helping students in dire financial hardship stay at Mount Union and get across the finish line.

“Giving back is second nature for the Gorises,” said Greg King, vice president for university advancement at Mount Union. “With all their support for the community and Mount Union, we felt it was only fitting that one of the primary locations on campus be named in their honor.”
