Mount Union's men's golf team finished the first round of the Virtues Golf Classic in 14th place.
The Purple Raiders finished with a team score of 354, which is just one stroke behind 13th place Pittsburgh- Bradford. Otterbein leads the event with a team score of 315.
Junior Gage Tomko (Warren / Howland) led the way for Mount Union, shooting an 85. Junior Ryan Shinko (Avon Lake) also carded a round in the 80s, finishing with an 87. Seniors Ian Smith (Cambridge) and Adam Filo (Norton / Chippewa) rounded out the Raiders team score, shooting a 90 and 92 respectively.
The Raiders are back in action again tomorrow for the second round of the Virtues Golf Classic at Virtues Golf Course in Nashport, Ohio.
