Down a handful of lineup regulars, the Malone University men's soccer team struggled in their Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener against the University of Findlay Oilers Thursday night.
The Pioneer defense held their own for most of the night, including turning away several point blank looks by the Oilers, however UF's offense proved to be too much in the end.
Findlay scored one goal in each half in the 2-0 win.

Findlay took advantage of their opportunities early on in the game, and found the back of Malone's net in the 17th minute to open up the scoring.
The Oilers had several other great looks in the first half, however Gavyn Ernst had a couple of phenomenal saves to keep Malone in the game.
Findlay came out fast in the second half scoring within the first twenty minutes to make the scored 2-0.
Despite Malone's best efforts on offense, none of their six shots found the back of the net.
In the end, Findlay held on for the 2-0 conference win.

Ernst came away with four saves compared to Findlay's two.
Malone had six total shots with two being on target.

The Pioneers remain at home to play against Northwood University on Saturday.
