Clark, Geist presented Distinguished Founders Award

Faculty Athletic Representative Teresa Clark and former Athletic Director Dr. Alan Geist are two of six recipients of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Distinguished Founders Award.

They were honored at the league's annual awards banquet in Cincinnati on May 24.

Celebrating its 10th year of sponsoring student-athlete development and character through competition, the G-MAC honored officials from three of its founding member institutions - Cedarville University, Trevecca Nazarene University, and Ursuline College.

The Distinguished Founders Award acknowledge individuals who have made significant and distinct contributions to the origination and success of the conference.

The exemplary leadership and loyalty to the conference is recognized as a catalyst to the initial and ongoing success of the organization.

Clark has been Cedarville University's FAR since the 2011-12 academic year. She presently serves on the G-MAC Strategic Planning Committee and the Branding Committee. She's the former chair of the league's FAR Committee.

Clark currently represents the G-MAC on the NCAA Division II Management Council, the Student Reinstatement Committee. and is chair of the Identity Sub-Committee.

Clark, who is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at CU, returned to her alma mater in 1996 as volleyball coach and is the program's all-time winningest coach piling up 332 victories in ten seasons.

Geist was athletic director at the University from 2008 through 2021 at a time when the Yellow Jackets transitioned from the NAIA to NCAA Division II.

He was one of the key leaders in the formation of the G-MAC serving in multiple roles including chair of the Athletic Directors Council. He was also active in the NCAA at the regional and national levels.

Geist is currently an Associate Professor of Sport Business Management at Cedarville.

The other four recognized with the Distinguished Founders Award include:

  • Mark Elliott, Athletic Director, Trevecca Nazarene University
  • Sr. Diana Stano, President Emeritus, Ursuline College
  • Cindy McKnight, Athletic Director, Ursuline College
