Morrison named Chaplain at Mount Union

2

The University of Mount Union is pleased to announce Dr. Timothy Morrison as its new University Chaplain.

Morrison has been an active member of the religious community in Northeast Ohio for two decades, including 18 years of service as a pastor for the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church from 2002-2020. Since leaving that post, he has served as the director of spiritual care for Continuum Care Hospice in Parma and has also served as the chaplain at Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights since 2017.

Morrison earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Otterbein University, a Master of Divinity from Boston University, a Master of Leadership in higher education from Baldwin Wallace University and a Doctor of Ministry with a specialization in college chaplaincy from Wesley Theological Seminary.

“One of the things I love about Mount Union is the size and ability of students to be known by faculty and staff,” Morrison said. “The many alumni I have encountered over the years tell a strong narrative about the culture of community and commitments to diversity and social justice on the campus."

“Following a comprehensive search, we are very pleased to have Tim join our campus community,” said John Frazier, vice president of student affairs and dean of students. “He brings a wealth of experience and passion to the university chaplaincy and I’m very excited to see all that he can accomplish. Most importantly, his interactions with our students demonstrated his ability to engage, support and lead spiritual life programs for students of any and all faith backgrounds.”

Morrison will begin serving in the position in late June.
