The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Walsh will have four student-athletes that are traveling to Allendale, Michigan next week to compete in the Division II National Championships. Alexa Leppelmeier, Ndidiamaka Anaraodo and Kelsey Hartsock will be headed to Michigan on the women's side while Jesse Houle qualified on the men's side of things. Leppelmeier qualified in the 5K and the 3000 meter steeplechase while Anaraodo will compete in the Shot Put and Discus Throw. Hartsock qualified in the Pole Vault and Houle made it in the Hammer Throw.
Leppelmeier qualified for the Outdoor Championships for the second time and 6th time in her overall career. With her best 5K time of 16:24.92, Leppelmeier ranks first in the G-MAC, 4th in the Midwest and 14th in Division II. In the 3000 meter steeplechase, she is first in the G-MAC and in the Midwest and 2nd overall in DII with her qualiying mark of 10:13.21.
Anaraodo is making her second appearance at the Outdoor National Championships this season and fourth of her career. Her best shot put throw of 16.25 meters is first in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the Midwest Region and 2nd in all of Division II. In the discus throw, Anaraodo is second in the G-MAC, fifth in the region and 17th in the seeding with a high throw of 47.60 meters.
Hartsock is making her outdoor debut at Nationals as a freshman in the Pole Vault, the first qualified vaulter since 2018. She topped out at 4.05 meters, which puts her third in the conference, fifth in the Midwest and tied for 14th in the competition list.
Houle will head to Nationals for his first time, with the help of a 60.50 meter throw in the Hammer Throw. He has the third best throw in the G-MAC, 9th best in the Midwest and 19th in the entire division.
