Mount Union's men outdoor track and field team compete this Thursday and Friday May 5th and May 6th at the 2022 Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the in Berea, Ohio hosted by Baldwin Wallace University.
The Purple Raider men, ranked No. 8 in the nation, have won the conference title the last 10 years in a row and a record 37 times overall with several student-athletes seeded high heading into the weekend.
Mount Union holds the top seed in seven different men's events which include
Seniors Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) and Evan Hershberger (Dalton) are first and second and separated by .25-inches for the lead.
Hershberger also leads the conference in the long jump.
Junior Jared Storm (Barberton) in the 200-meters is tied for the lead and sits in second in the 400-meters.
Junior Matthew McBride (Conneaut) has the top spot in the 400-meters.
Storm and McBride combined with seniors Dylon Campbell (Cuyahoga Falls) and Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) to have the fastest 4x400-meter relay team.
Junior Kyel Wolff (Cleveland / Cuyahoga Heights) leads the conference in the pole vault.
Freshman Drake Willenborg (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East) leads the men's discus.
