Residents who are interested in learning more about becoming a foster and adoptive parent are encouraged to attend. During each meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to talk with a family resource worker and ask questions about the foster care and adoption process.
Meetings are free and open to the public, registration is required. To register, please call 330-451-8789 or email Jennifer.Loomis@jfs.ohio.gov.
The Division of Children Services currently has a great need for foster care families. These families provide much needed physical, emotional, and social support to a child waiting to be reunited with their natural family or permanently placed with an adoptive family. Stark County has nearly 400 children living in the foster care system. The average age of a child in foster care is 8 years old.
The process to become a foster care and adoptive parent requires training and licensing through Stark County Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Potential parents must be at least 18 years of age, provide proof of income to meet the needs of the household, and successfully pass required background checks.
