Kent State University recently issued the following announcement.
Kent State righty Richie Dell was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in Friday's win over Central Michigan.
Dell was phenomenal against the Chippewas in the Golden Flashes 1-0 win over the reigning MAC Champions. He out dueled Andrew Taylor and threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout.
The junior allowed only three base runners and none of them advanced past second base while he struck out a career-best eight. He needed only 83 pitches to get through seven innings.
It was the first shutout of Dell's college career and the first for Kent State since Eli Kraus blanked Miami in the 2018 MAC tournament.
Dell and the Golden Flashes are back in action on Friday when they travel to Athens to take on the Ohio Bobcats. First pitch from Bob Wren Stadium is set for 5 p.m.
