County of Stark recently issued the following announcement.
There are many who think the Stark County Health Department, Environmental Health Services only reviews facility plans for new or remodeled food businesses or completes & reports results for public restaurant health inspections. While that is true and very beneficial, the fact is, their team is involved with a tremendous amount of work dedicated to keeping families in Stark County safe.
“The Department is serving all around the community, you just don’t see it.” Do summer plans include swimming in one of Stark’s public pools such as the local YMCAs, Dogwood, Arrowhead, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, Meadowlake, or Country Clubs? Give thanks to Stark County Health for inspecting them and helping keep them safe to use! Public swimming pools must follow the State and County’s rules, guidelines & licenses to determine whether or not they are in compliance.
The Stark County Health Department adheres to the Ohio Administrative and Revised Codes and Laws determined by 4 separate State of Ohio Departments. Those Departments include the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Agriculture, and the Ohio Department of Commerce.
“You might not think you use our services, but you really do.” If you have a water well or septic system, Stark County’s Health Department, Environmental Health Services has actually been involved in the process of obtaining a permit for that. The Department keeps an updated list of registered plumbing contractors here.
“Stark County Health Department is serving all around the community, you just don’t see it.” If you are looking to get a tattoo, body piercing, or permanent makeup, be sure to check out businesses that Stark County Health Department regularly inspects and provides a permit for here. Parents, these permitted establishments have rules about the age of children looking to get piercings or body art and parents must be present with proof of ID and relationship.
“You might not think you use our services, but you really do.” The Stark County Health Department, Environmental Health Services has a mosquito control plan which allows for the safest & most effective method of mosquito control. and Stark Health is committed to using the safest chemicals available regardless of cost and keeping mosquitos at a controllable count.
“Stark County Health Department is serving all around the community, you just don’t see it.” The Stark County Health Department, Environmental Health Services regulates and inspects waste management and recycling including the 2 two municipal solid waste disposal facilities in the county as well as Liberty Tire of Ohio, a scrap tire monofill & their recovery facility.
“You might not think you use our services, but you really do.” Stark County’s Health Department, Environmental Health Services also tracks animal and rabies bites locally. If you or a neighbor get bit by a domestic animal a report can be made and the animal can be quarantined for 10 days pending rabies vaccine status. As for a wild animal that bites a person or pet such as a wild skunk, raccoon, or bat, and then dies, the dead animal can be tested for rabies thanks to Stark Health.
“Stark County Health Department is serving all around the community, you just don’t see it.” The Stark County Health Department, Environmental Health Services focuses its school inspections on school sanitation & protecting public health using the recommendations from a guidance document developed by the Ohio Department of Health.
In addition, a Stark County Board of Health Nuisance Investigation Complaint Form can be completed for the following types of complaints:
- Open dumping of solid waste, construction and demolition debris, and scrap tires
- Restaurant illnesses and cleanliness
- Home sewage system failures
- Mold issues within apartments & rental units
- Unmaintained swimming pools
- Mice, Rats, and Rodent infestation
- Mosquito and standing water
- ServSafe Certification Registration
- Person In Charge Registration
- Body Art Certification Registration
