County of Stark recently issued the following announcement.
Stark County Job and Family Services’ Division of Children Services will host virtual information meetings to recruit foster care and adoptive parents on Tuesday, March 1. The
meeting will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on the Zoom platform. Residents who have considered fostering or adopting a child are encouraged to attend.
During the meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to talk with a family resource worker and ask questions about the foster care and adoption process. To register, please call
330-451-8789 or email Jennifer.Loomis@jfs.ohio.gov.
The Division of Children Services currently has a great need for foster care families. These families provide much needed physical, emotional, and social support to a child waiting
to be reunited with their natural family or permanently placed with an adoptive family. Stark County has nearly 400 children living in the foster care system. The average age of a
child in foster care is 8 years old.
The process to become a foster care and adoptive parent requires training and licensing through Stark County Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Job and
Family Services. Potential parents must be at least 18 years of age, provide proof of income to meet the needs of the household, and successfully pass required background
checks.
