University of Mount Union recently issued the following announcement.

The University of Mount Union and Cleveland State University (CSU) have announced an articulation agreement that will qualify Mount Union engineering and physics graduates for direct admission into one of seven master’s degree programs at CSU.

As an anchor institution for Northeast Ohio, recognized for cutting-edge research, creative activity and innovative collaborations that drive economic development and enrich the lives of students and citizens, CSU is proud to partner with Mount Union to assist in preparing students for fulfilling lives, meaningful work, and responsible citizenship through a partnership that aims to keep top talent in Northeast Ohio.

Under this new agreement, Mount Union students graduating with a cumulative 2.75 grade-point average (GPA) in its Bachelor of Science degrees in biomedical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering programs will qualify for the respective master’s degree programs at CSU. Students graduating with a 3.0 GPA from Mount Union’s computer engineering program qualify for CSU’s Master of Science degree in computer science and its Master of Science degree in software engineering.

Mount Union physics students graduating with a 3.0 GPA will also qualify for direct admission into any one of the seven applicable master’s degree programs at CSU.

“Partnering with Cleveland State, a leading graduate research institution in Northeast Ohio, on direct admission into advanced graduate engineering degrees will provide Mount Union graduates the opportunity to further their training and support the diverse and growing needs of regional industries,” said Dr. Chad Korach, associate professor and director of Mount Union’s School of Engineering.

“We are excited to work with the University of Mount Union to help drive economic development by keeping top talent in Northeast Ohio, and to work together to prepare students for the post-pandemic workforce for high demand fields in engineering and data science,” said Michael Hollenbaugh, Ph.D., director of graduate admissions and diversity initiatives at CSU.

Mount Union’s School of Engineering features five programs, including ABET-accredited programs in civil and mechanical engineering that boasted a 100% placement rate into industry careers or graduate school for members of the 2019 graduating class.
