Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Stark DD) issued the following announcement on Dec. 29.
As we close out 2020, we would like to recognize Roger Gines , retiring Stark DD Board member. He served 12 years (3 full terms) on the Board, from 2009-2020. During that span, Roger only missed one meeting which was for his daughter’s graduation. Roger served as the Recording Secretary on the board until 2019. Additionally, Roger served on the Finance Committee, chaired the Nominating Committee, and was a past The Workshops, Inc. (TWi) Trustee. Roger was honored at the December 15 board meeting and presented with a plaque of appreciation shortly after the virtual meeting.
Beyond the governance board, Roger has been a strong supporter of Special Olympics, through his volunteerism and multi-year participant in the
Great Pumpkin Race, crossing the 4 mile finish line with his son, Paul and others of his family. Roger represented the board at many Stark DD and community events over the years. Our sincere thank you, Roger, for your devotion and volunteerism to Stark DD and the people with disabilities and their families living in the Stark County community. #KnowMeStark
